Our Ambassadors

Here I am: Yusuf Subair OmoAgbejafole. The story of my transition is not the fun type; I recycle my struggle and transform it into a learning mechanism to benefit newcomers, teachers, students, and researchers.

In my experience, the Ubuntu Embassy is a space for recovery and discovery where the well-being, development, and practical integration of migrants and refugees is activated.

The Ubuntu Embassy is a string that connects the Dutch community and refugees to create a sustainable community and promote cultural diversity.

Good to meet you, I am Jeff and originally I am from Zimbabwe. This country lies between South Africa and Zambia. It has one of the seven wonders of the world in Victoria Falls. Generally Zimbabwe is a good country to visit, but human rights violations are very rampant from the government which has been in power since 1980. I was forced to leave the country because I was deemed a treasonous person being against the government.

I am a Professional Electrical Engineer and a Solar-Specialist Engineer registered in the Dutch Solar-Specialists register. I am also a University lecturer of repute and for more than twenty years, I have lectured at the universities of Zimbabwe, Johannesburg and Addis Ababa. Besides engineering I have also studied Human rights and Global studies here in the Netherlands so I am also a Human Rights Activist.

The Ubuntu Ambassade has helped me to express myself at any platform. Ubuntu means a lot to me and I will do my best to work in tandem and contribute a lot.

My name is Justine and I am from Uganda, which is found in East Africa. Uganda is called pearl of Africa because of its nature and culture. Uganda faces political issues because of it’s president, who has ruled for more than 45 years and keeps on charge the constitution which does not have democracy. The current government is against the LGTBTQ people.

My skills and talents? Dancing, cooking, storytelling. And I have the skills for administration assistance.

For me, the Ubuntu Ambassade is a place where undocumented and refugee people can show that they are not dependent and criminals, but they just lack the communication and relationships to show that they are useful in the community.

Hi, I’m Ousmane and I’m originally from Guinea Conakry. This country in West Africa is commonly known as the paradise of Africa and it borders with six other countries. It is rich in resources such as bauxite, iron and gold. The population is 14 million people and the country is a mix of different ethnic groups, predominantly Muslims.

What I bring to the table? I’m hardworking and confident, my talents are painting and cooking. My strengths lie in communication, teamwork and perseverance.

To me, Ubuntu means a structured tool – an instrument that enables us to achieve complex goals that would be impossible to accomplish alone. Ubuntu gives us a social network, collective actions and specialization of our skills.

Hello everyone, I am Ibrahim and Sudan is the country where I was born and raised. I came to the Netherlands many years ago and I am trying to make a life here.

For events I organize Jabana: a traditional Sudanese coffee ceremony. This way I bring the flavors and hospitality of Sudan to the Netherlands. Also I follow a training program to become a specialist in construction and industry.

The Ubuntu Ambassade gives me the opportunity to build a network, show my heritage and through that connect with others.

My name is Christian and my country of origin is Congo. I would describe it as a big country and a war country. I came to Amsterdam in 2024 and I’m trying to build a life here. I love to write and use words to do justice to my story and the stories of others.

The Ubuntu Ambassade helps me to make my voice heard and provides a community where I feel welcome.
